Timeline.App Pty Ltd (registered in Australia with ACN 634 542 911) respects your privacy, and only collects data necessary to operate, support and develop our software and website.
We will not share information we collect with third parties, except where:
- They are a third-party service we use to provide, support or improve our goods and services; in which case that third-party will be specifically named in the sections below
- We are required to disclose the information to receive professional services or advice such as insurance, accounting, or legal advice; or
- We are otherwise required to do so by law
The specific information we collect, and how we use it are outlined in the sections below.
Purchases of Aeon Timeline made via our website, or directly within our Windows and Mac applications downloaded from our website, will be processed by our third-party reseller, FastSpring.
Through FastSpring, we are able to access other information related to your purchase, including identifying information you provided (such as your name and email address), and transaction details such as the purchase date and price paid. We will only access this information for the purposes of providing you with support regarding your purchase (such as helping to identify your order or license details and processing refunds).
When you purchase a license to use Aeon Timeline, the email address you provide is used to create an account on our servers. This account is used when activating your license across multiple devices and to control your access to software updates.
Some other data will be automatically generated and linked to your account, including transaction numbers and dates, and device activation data including dates and unique identifiers. This information is used solely for the purpose of administering your user account.
Our servers are hosted by Amazon Web Services (AWS) using servers located in the USA. It may be necessary to change either the web host or the hosting location in the future, in which case your data may be moved to a new location.
Software Internet Access
Aeon Timeline software applications will use your internet connection for the following purposes related to administering your account:
- Connecting with FastSpring or Apple App Store servers to complete transactions
- Connecting with our servers when activating a license on a device, or to check the status of an existing account
- Connecting with our servers to find and download software updates to keep you up to date with our latest version
In addition, Aeon Timeline may use your internet connection for error reporting and to gather statistics about the usage of our product. The information captured during this process is generic and non-identifying in nature, providing us with information such as which features are being used most frequently by our users. Specifically, none of your timeline content is captured during this process.
This information is captured to help us fix software issues and guide future development of our product. We use Sentry.io and Google Analytics to collect this information.
Aeon Timeline may also use your internet connection to access images or other internet-based files if you choose to link to those items within your timeline file. This information does not reach us or our servers in any way.
We use HelpScout.com and Gmail.com to manage our emails and incoming support requests via email. When you contact us via email, your email and our response will be retained on our servers so that we can refer back to it when providing you with assistance in the future. Any information you provide to us will remain confidential and won't be shared with other parties, except where required to offer assistance (e.g. we may share information with FastSpring in order to resolve an issue related to an order placed with them), or if we are legally obligated to do so.
On occasion, we may request that you send us a copy of your timeline file if we believe this is the most appropriate way to resolve an issue for you. You are free to choose not to send this to us. Should you choose to do so, we will treat your file with strict confidence and only use it for the purpose of resolving the relevant issue. We will not share your timeline file with any other party.
Where we offer other support platforms such as a User Forum, information such as your username and the posts you write will be publicly visible to anyone visiting our website. You should be careful not to provide any information via these platforms that you do not wish to be publicly available.
A cookie is a file containing an identifier (a string of letters and numbers) that is sent by a web server to a web browser and is stored by the browser. The identifier is then sent back to the server each time the browser requests a page from the server.
Cookies may be either "persistent" cookies or "session" cookies: a persistent cookie will be stored by a web browser and will remain valid until its set expiry date, unless deleted by the user before the expiry date; a session cookie, on the other hand, will expire at the end of the user session, when the web browser is closed.

We do not use any cookies for advertising, or any cookies that are designed to track your website usage across different servers.
You may use your browser settings to block or erase cookies from your machine, but our website may not function if you choose to do so.
We use MailChimp for our newsletters and other life cycle emails related to your account. You will receive emails from us if you have opted into receive our newsletter, either via our website, inside our app, or by ticking a box when purchasing our product. Your email address and name may be stored so that we can send you these email updates.
You can unsubscribe at any time by following the "Unsubscribe" link at the bottom of the newsletter.
We do not share our email subscriber lists with third parties.
You will also receive emails from us that are necessary for our business, including emails that confirm recent or upcoming transactions and other changes to your account status.
You have a right to access any data we hold about you.
You have a right to request us to delete any information we hold about you. In doing so, be aware that this is likely to limit or restrict your ability to continue to use our products and services (you will no longer be able to use our software under your current license.
You may contact us on email@example.com if you wish to request to access or delete the information we hold. We will deal with such requests within 30 days of receipt of the request.
